Barney Igles, Jr. Obituary

Barney Lee Igles, Jr. was born on June 1, 1947, and departed his earthly life on August 9, 2020. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney Igles, Sr. and Mary Evans, and grandparents, Will and Moriah Evans.

He accepted Christ at an early age, becoming a member of Zion Watch African Methodist Episcopal Church.  He enjoyed fishing and watching westerns.

Barney was a Vietnam Veteran, joining the United States Army at age seventeen and serving a total of twelve years. During this time, he earned many prestigious awards and honors, including the Bronze Star, Parachute Badge, Purple Heart, and being a member of the 82nd Airborne. He was then employed at Georgia Pacific for twenty-one years before retiring.

Barney will be remembered by all for his warm, caring heart and friendly smile. He was selfless, always willing to help those in need without question.

His memory will live on through the love of his life, wife Peggy of Blakely, Georgia; son, Larodo Rogers of Burnsville, Minnesota; daughter, Bonnie Rogers of Blakely; stepdaughter, Karlicia Rogers of Blakely; three grandchildren: Cody Rogers of Blakely, Christian Rogers of Tallahassee, Florida, and Malaysia Rogers of Burnsville, Minnesota; brother, Jimmy Jinks of Blakely; three sisters-in-law: Rebecca George (Amos), Betty (Johnny) Brown and Karen George, all of Blakely; and six brothers-in-law: Billy Rogers of Blakely, Richard Rogers of New Bedford, Massachusetts, Herman Rogers, Zell Rogers, both of Thomasville, Georgia, Troy Rogers of Dothan, Alabama, and Larry Bankston of Columbia, Maryland.  He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law Josephine Taylor.  He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
