Sister Betty Jean Henderson–“Jean”, as she was lovingly known, was a loving independent daughter born to Edith Brown Lewis and Julius Lewis, Sr., on February 8, 1946, in Blakely (Early County), Georgia. She became a member of Church Street Church of Christ at an early age and remained a faithful member until our HEAVENLY FATHER called her Home.
“Jean” Betty Lewis was married to Johnny “Skeet” Henderson until his death. They had two boys, Patrick DeShaun and Victor Jermaine.
In her leisure time, Betty absolutely enjoyed being in the presence of family and friends. More than anything she LOVED THE LORD! Remembering her is to cherish the impact that she made on the lives she knew and loved. Her life symbolized love and devotion, but more than that she shared her love for THE LORD.
On May 28, 2021, Jean peacefully departed this life. She was preceded in death by her parents Julius Lewis, Sr. and Edith Lewis; and her brothers: Julius Lewis Jr., Dr. Larry Lewis and James “Boe” Lewis.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Patrick Henderson and Victor Henderson; her daughter-in-law: Nikki Henderson; grandchildren: Ashanti Boatwright, Dakari Young, Erik Henderson, Alvin Henderson, Kendarius Henderson, Dasia Henderson, Zyhtarius King, Jayden Henderon and Marlie Henderson; a great grandson: Karter Williams; a sister, Beauty Lewis Smith and brother-in-law Raymond Smith; brothers: Robert West and Dara Lewis; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Francene Lewis, Rebecca Lewis, Robert Henderson, Martha Henderson, Richard Henderson, Jeanette Henderson, Calvin Henderson, Margaret Henderson and Larry Henderson; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, students, colleagues, and friends.
