Catherine (Johnson) Powell

Catherine "Cat" Johnson Powell was born February 23, 1957. She was the ninth child of the late Mr. George and Mrs. Essie D. Johnson. She was preceded in death by three sisters (Bertha Norwood, Shirley A. Foster, and Mildred L. Ceasar) and two brothers (L. C. Johnson and Tommy L. Johnson).

"Cat", as she was affectionately known, was employed at Celebrity Kids Club for eighteen years. She was a faithful member of New Generation Disciple Center Ministries, Inc., where she served as the Pastor Timothy Wilson’s Nurse Aide until her health failed.

Catherine departed this earthly life on Thursday, April 13, 2017, in Saint Petersburg, Florida.

Catherine "Cat" Johnson is survived by two sons, Gaverne Nathan Powell and Daniel Timothy Powell, one granddaughter, Gaveeka Powell, one grandson, Gaverne Powell Jr., and one great grandson, Breon Harper Jr., all of St. Petersburg, FL; seven sisters: Eddie Dean Hudson of Tallahassee, FL, Georgia Mae Franklin of Atlanta, GA, Hazel Johnson, Mary Wade, Merlene Johnson, Debra Davis, and Glenis Thompson (Dennis), all of Blakely, GA; one brother, Eddie Johnson (Charlie Mae) of Blakely, GA; one aunt, Lula Rush of Tallahassee, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
