Larry became a member of the Church of Christ in Blakely, Georgia, where he remained until death. He was truly a man of God. He was a tireless and enthusiastic worker for the cause of Christ in his life. He never wavered from the Faith. He found and attended the Church wherever he went.

Larry was not a natural father, but he was known as "Uncle Larry", not only to his blood relatives, but also to others who came to know him.

He loved his family with all his being; so much so, that he checked on them by phone on a weekly and timely basis. Everybody had time to be called by Uncle Larry, and he would inquire about everyone who you were connected to family wise. Not only did he love and care for his family, but he took his friendships the very same way; they too were on his call list, and he kept in touch with them, and they in return kept in touch with him.

Larry was really travel oriented. He loved it; his goal was to visit all fifty states, and this he accomplished. He also did some overseas traveling: he visited London, England, where his brother Dara was stationed. He was blessed to see a lot that this world had to offer.

Basically, one can truthfully say that Uncle Larry was truly a good Godly Man and he was loved.

Larry departed this life early Friday morning on January 5, 2018. This time he truly was like the wind.."I’m Gone"–his voice message.

Larry leaves to mourn his passing two sisters, Beauty Lewis Smith (Raymond) and Betty Lewis Henderson, both of Blakely, Georgia, and two brothers, Robert Lewis of Miami, Florida and Dara Lavaughn Lewis Sr. (Francene) of Valrico, Florida. He also leaves two very special aunts, Inez Brown and Vera O’Hara, both of Albany, Georgia, and a very special sister-in-law, Rebecca Lewis of Blakely, Georgia. In addition, there are a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
