Mrs. Ellen V. Williams was born October 24, 1939, in Calhoun County, Georgia, to the late Mr. Willie B. and Mrs. Fannie Bell Ingram-Jacobs. She was reared and raised in Edison, Georgia. She excelled as an outstanding basketball, softball and track/field star at Singleton High School in Morgan, Georgia.
Through the years, Ellen lived in various cities before moving to Suwanee, Georgia, in 2017 with her children. Upon graduating high school in 1959, she moved to Tampa, Florida, and attended Gibbs Junior College in St. Petersburg, Florida. She also lived in Donalsonville, Georgia, Atlanta Georgia, and spent majority of her adult life in Blakely, Georgia.
Ellen worked as a cook and waitress in her uncle’s restaurant in Tampa, Florida. She went on to work in the food industry in the Hillsborough County School System in Tampa, Sutton Middle School in Atlanta, Georgia, and Early County Elementary School in Blakely, Georgia. Ellen worked as a teacher’s aide with the Early County School System. She also worked as a CNA at Care South Home Health Services.
Ellen joined Union A.M.E. Church at a very early age and served until she moved to Tampa. Wherever she lived, she would always find a house of worship to praise and glorify the Name of her LORD And SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST. She rejoined Union in the mid-seventies and served there until moving to Suwanee, Georgia. Ellen served in numerous capacities, including Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Missionary, Intercessory Prayer, Choir Member, Pastor’s Aide, Class Leader, Youth Department Director, Devotional and Praise Team Leader, Steward and Trustee, and Mothers Board. She also sang with the quartet group HJW Gospel Singers. Ellen was a true servant of GOD and worked in the ministry until her health failed her. She was known for her loving spirit, kindness, and generosity. She was an outstanding cook and enjoyed preparing food for any and everyone, especially her family.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Homer Sylvester Jacobs and Willie James Jacobs; three sisters: Pinkie Brackins, Helen Jacobs-Brown, and Dorothy Ann Jacobs-McBurrows; and her beloved husband, Mr. Elie Williams. She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Dwain Williams and Corey Williams (Shannon) of Suwanee, GA; two daughters, Sharon Richardson of Atlanta, GA, and Kimberly Williams of Suwanee, GA; eight grandchildren, one great grandchild; one brother, Claudie B. Jacobs (Hazel) of Atlanta, GA; five sisters: Marie Miller of Tampa, FL, Charlotte Atkins, Fannie Brown (Clarence), Brenda Kaye Jacobs, and Linda Hunter, all of Blakely, GA; one brother-in-law, Willie Brackins of Arlington, GA; and a host of loving nephews, nieces, and other family members.
