Mrs. Erma Jean James–a loving daughter, wife, and a mother of five–was born on July 9, 1949, to Mr. Toylee Pittman and Ms. Dorothy George. She was a native of Blakely, Georgia.
She attended Early County High School, where she met her husband, Lonnie James Jr., in 1967. She entered a Certified Nursing Assistant program in Albany, Georgia, and received her certification. As a CNA, Erma impacted the lives of patients and their families in their times of need. She worked in the Georgia Medical System for more than twenty years and loved every moment of it.
On January 15, 1975, Erma symbolized her dedication to Jehovah God by means of water baptism. She gave her best in service to God faithfully attending congregation meetings when she could and engaging in the public ministry work. Erma was a kindhearted and generous Sister; and even despite her health problems, she gave her every ounce of strength to do the work of the Lord.
Erma passed away in the late hours on December 30, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband Lonnie James Jr. and her daughter Tammie Holmes.
