General Wilson Hicks was born August 7, 1959, in Donalsonville, Georgia, to the loving parentage of Jewell and Annie Mae Hicks.
On Monday, June 14, 2021, surrounded by family, he answered GOD’S Call to come Home and Rest from Labor.
At an early age, he joined Good Hope AME Church in Cedar Springs, Georgia, under the leadership of Reverend Granger. General attended the public schools of Early County. He later attended Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University on a football scholarship. After leaving Alabama, he moved to Utah, where he worked in forestry. Returning home, he was employed at Plywood Mills for twenty years and then at Georgia Pacific until he retired in 2018.
On January 26, 2004, he was blessed with a daughter, Alleyah Shabrick Graham. “Lee” was the love of his life.
“Jim”, as he was affectionately called by those who knew him well, loved his family deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Cleveland Jewell Hicks; and two nephews, Dedrel Hicks and Ke.
He leaves to cherish his legacy of love and helping others one daughter: Alleyah S. Graham of Bainbridge, GA; two brothers, John Henry Hicks (Cloratee) and Anthony Derrick Hicks (Marie) [nephew], both of Donalsonville, GA; five sisters: Doris Jean Clark of Philadelphia, PA, Arnetta Elaine Wilson of Atlanta, GA, Mary E. Jones of Early County, GA, Beverlyn D. Davis of Bainbridge, GA, and Mattie Williams of Gordon, AL; twelve nephews; eight nieces; and a host of grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, other family members and friends.
