Genita Joanne Pugh was born January 1, 1945, in Blakely, Georgia, to the late Mr. Charlie Ell and Mrs. Bertha Lee Pugh. She was called Home to Glory on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at her house in Blakely.
Genita was a loving, caring, humble woman whose presence brought warmth and laughter to everyone she met; she made them feel loved and valued. And her presence will be sorely missed.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ricky E. Pugh, sister, Delois Pugh, and two grandsons, Sherman Jr. and Kylen Smith.
She leaves to cherish her memories three beautiful daughters: Tamika McGhee (Charles) of Dothan, AL, Lakita Smith, and Crystal Smith, both of Blakely, GA; twelve grandchildren: Sherkevia Smith, Tykevia Smith, Victor Early, Bentavion Freeman, Jamez Freeman, Tabryah Tinson, Jamecia Tinson, Jakaryson Freeman, Taylen Smith, Lyrica Smith, Paige Smith, and Chaston McGhee; nine sisters: Barbara Wilson (Willie) of Cuthbert, GA, Linda George of Edison, GA, Joyce Rainge (Terry), Dianne Pugh, Betty Williams (Terry), Pamela Bradley (Jimmie), Teresa Reed (Bobby), Evonne Pugh, and Robin Pugh, all of Blakely, GA; five brothers: Charles Pugh, David Pugh, both of Savannah, GA, Kelvin Pugh, Shawn Pugh, both of NC, and Curtis Pugh (Ann) of Blakely, GA; a special friend whom she loved dearly, Michael George; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
“And GOD shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” Revelation 21:4
