Gladys Brown Jones was born to the late Andrew James Brown and Inez (Victory) Hightower Hall (Mack Sr.) on September 19, 1936, in Blakely, Georgia. She accepted CHRIST as her LORD AND SAVIOR at an early age at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorship of Reverend A. W. Harris.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Willie C. Jones on June 14, 1952. Her husband preceded her in death after sixty-seven years of marriage. To this union were born four sons; one of whom, Herman (father of three children and grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren), preceded her in death.
Gladys was a peaceful person who brought good and love to all with whom she felt fortunate to share life. She departed her earthly life on Monday, August 10, 2020, at home in Blakely. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her two sisters Joanne Balkcom and Martha Gilbert (Floyd); three brothers Walter C. Cook, Raymond Brown and James Brown; and seven sisters-in-union and brothers-in-union.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sons: Billy of Dothan, Alabama, Roosevelt III (father of three children and grandfather of four grandchildren), and Eddie James (father of one child and grandfather of two grandchildren), both of Blakely, Georgia. She also leaves in mourning seven sisters: Iris Jones (Roosevelt Jr.), Helen Fields (Joe), Verna Hazel (Eugene), Janie Covard (Robert), Maxine Zachery (Jerry), Mandy Moses (Marzell), and Cathy Brown; three brothers: George Brown, Mack Hall Jr. (Evon), and Harry Hall (Mary); one dear aunt, Naomi Perry; one uncle, Harold Hightower; a special cousin who was like a sister, Dorothy Balkcom; four sisters-in-union: Louise McCoy, Bennie P. Sapp, Anne West (Johnny), and Thelma Gilbert; two brothers-in-union, Johnny C. Jones and McArthur Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins and friends.
