In HIS infinite wisdom and gentle grace, ALMIGHTY GOD reached down from Heaven and whispered so quietly to one of HIS children these words: “Come with ME MY daughter, for it is time to go Home”, and so it was that Thursday, February 10, 2022, GOD gently closed the eyes of our beloved Gladys McCoy. She lived a long, meaningful life for eighty-one years.
Gladys Jinks McCoy was the youngest offspring born to the late Thomas and Alberta Jinks. Eight siblings (Clara, Sarah, Thomas Jr., Amy, Mary Elaine, Eddie Walter, Jesse B., and Lewis) preceded Gladys in death. As a youth, Gladys joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and developed a strong faith in our LORD And SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST. She graciously granted her time and talents to the church for many years.
Gladys attended Washington High School in Blakely, Georgia. Upon her graduation, Gladys began making significant contributions to society through her occupational endeavors and civic affiliations. She was a dedicated employee at Dana’s Undies for many years. Afterwards, Gladys entered the healthcare industry as a home healthcare provider and compassionately nurtured many Early County residents needing medical assistance. Upon retirement, Gladys remained a remarkable servant leader and community advocate who leaves unforgettable footprints in Blakely, Georgia. She served as a member of the Blakely Mass Choir, Women’s Civic Club, and Macedonia Usher Board. During her leisure, Gladys enjoyed singing, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren. Indeed, Gladys will be missed by many who cherished her dearly.
Additionally, Gladys was preceded in death by three children: Ronnie McCoy, Baby McCoy, and Jarrett McCoy; one daughter-in-law, Debbie McCoy; and her former husband and friend, James L. McCoy Sr.
Gladys leaves five beloved sons: James McCoy Jr. (Debra) of Johns Creek, Georgia, Kenneth McCoy Sr. (Aletha) of Killeen, Texas, Allen McCoy (Joann), Calvin McCoy Sr. (Quenthorsha), and Kevin McCoy Sr., all of Blakely, Georgia; a daughter-in-law, Angela McCoy of Bainbridge, Georgia; seventeen lovely grandchildren: Anthony, Erica, JaRhonda (Akeem), Kenneth Jr. (Tasha), Whitney, Kevin II, Jarrett Jr., James Xavier, Arriuana, Calvin Jr., Sunquenette, Sanquenette, Tyree, Aaliyah, Dy’asia, Kelsie, and Jonbraden; eight great grandchildren: Trey, Anthony Jr., Lauren, Malia, Karter, Jamil, Kingston, and Ayden; special nieces whom she cherished: Jean, Janice, and Dana; and a host of nephews, cousins and friends.
