Henry Lee Bush

October 17, 1933 ~ July 10, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Henry Lee Bush, age 83, died peacefully at his home in Colquitt, Georgia, on July 10, 2017, after a brief struggle with cancer.

Born October 17, 1933, in Colquitt, Georgia, to Mariah and Charlie Bush, he was the youngest child in a family comprised of four girls and three boys; he was fondly called "Billy Bob" by his parents who doted on him as the baby of the family. He attended public school in Miller County and served in the United States Military.

Henry attended meeting for a number of years at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where he preached with the Colquitt Congregation in the door-to-door ministry.  He enjoyed sharing bible truths with anyone he met.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-six years, Martha Bush, and their four children: Michelle Stubbs (Roy) of Blakely, Georgia, Gwenn Hodge (Thaddeus) of Washington, DC, Lorenzo Bush of Colquitt, Georgia, and Cathy Bahadur (Danny) of Fayetteville, Georgia. Henry loved each of them deeply and enjoyed being "Pa Pa" and Grandad to nine grandchildren: Christopher Stewart of Atlanta, Georgia, Lorenzo Brail Bush, Angela Hayes Bush, both of Colquitt, Georgia, Nicholas Hodge, Rachel Hodge, both of Washington, DC, Mariyah Bahadur, Indira Bahadur, Joshua Bahadur, all of Fayetteville, Georgia, and Anastasia Bahadur of PG County, Maryland. He is also survived by three great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Donald Greene (Pauline) of Donalsonville, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Mary Bembo of Donalsonville, Georgia and Vera Bush of Colquitt, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

Two of the greatest joys of his life were being a dutiful son to his mother Mariah Lawrence Bush and making others laugh and have fun! Never one to cause controversy, he always told his children to rise above any confusion and yield to others; and by doing so, they would be the better person. As a farmer, Henry rose early each morning to tend the fields, feed livestock or plow a field before going to his job at Farmers Fertilizer and Milling Company in Colquitt, where he was a faithful employee for over thirty years. He was a fisherman and enjoyed the great outdoors; he was handy in the kitchen and enjoyed cooking and being the "favorite" uncle to most of his nieces and nephews.

Henry was adored by all who knew him and actively lived out the "Fruits of the Spirit", providing and showing love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness and faithfulness to all who knew him. He was a gentle soul and will be greatly missed and cherished by all who knew him.
