Jerry Kennon Obituary

A Time to Be Born...Jerry L. Kennon was born December 3, 1959, in Blakely, Georgia.  He was the son of the late Joenathan Kennon and the late Marie Brown Kennon.

A Time to Sow...Brother Kennon accepted CHRIST as his LORD And SAVIOR at an early age.  He joined Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, where he served regularly.  He was truly a God-fearing man.

A Time to Reap...Brother Kennon attended Early County Public School System.  After graduating Early County High School, Jerry served in the United States Army.  After his duty ended, he became a truck driver for many years.  Jerry was blessed with three children.  He also worked with the Early County School System and was a faithful and dedicated employee for seven years, later retiring.

A Time to Enjoy...Jerry loved traveling with and supporting the Early County Football and Basketball Teams.  When he couldn’t attend the game, he would watch it on television.  He was a NFL fanatic.  He spent much of his time watching football games with his buddy Scottie.

A Time to Rest...On Sunday, June 4, 2023, at Southeast Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama, he quietly transitioned from this earthly life to be forever with THE LORD.  He was preceded in death by three sisters: Jessie Murl Wright, June Oliver, and Cornelia Brown; two brothers, Robert Brown and Alfred Brown; and one son-in-law, Marvex Mitchell.

A Time to Mourn...He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories his two daughters, Teena Marie Kennon of Blakely, GA, and Shaletha Kennon Mitchell of Ozark, AL; one son, Cornelius J. Kennon of Blakely; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mattie J. Young (Jimmy) and Doris Young (Lester), both of Albany, GA; three brothers:  Joenathan Kennon Jr. of Albany, GA, Claudie B. Kennon (Linda), and Leroy Kennon, both of Newark, NJ; two special friends, Scottie Harris and Herman Lett, both of Blakely; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
