Kaleb Xavier Whitaker

Kaleb was born January 6, 2001, in Blakely, Georgia, to Layconya Whitaker and Johnnie Lucas Jr.. At an early age, Kaleb joined Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Gaines, Georgia. He enjoyed playing football and soccer for Early County.

Each day with Kaleb was a new adventure. He had a genuine love for his family and friends. He shared laughter and a smile that could light up a room. He knew no strangers. He was loved by everyone. We will miss him, but the memory of his life, love and laughter will live on with us.

Kaleb departed his earthly life on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at University of South Alabama Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. His special friend Tiana Salway, godmother Erica Cook and loving great grandmother Ethel Reynolds preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother Layconya Whitaker; father Johnnie Lucas; bonus dad LeNard Grimsley; brothers Kendarius Henderson, Keaviant Wimbush, Justin Lucas, Quenyenta Polk and Jonathan Polk; sisters Justice Lucas, Carmyn Wade and Malia Hess; devoted grandmother Cathy Reynolds; grandparents Alfred Whitaker, Randi Hess Scott (David) and Johnnie B. Lucas Sr. (Thelma); great grandmother Nettie Whitaker; uncles Demarcus Whitaker (Shahada), Jaques Whitaker, Jamel Whitaker, Kaream Hess, Cass Lucas and Zachery Fowler; aunts Dametria Whitaker, Arimathea Hess, Shakyma Hess and Farrah Allen; godparents Vincent and Erica Cook; and bonus grandparents Larry Grimsley (Lena), Charles Buck (Patricia), Charlie Wade (Sandra), Kennis Price (Gloria), Ruby Gilbert, Terry Alexander, Betty Henderson and Gloria Wilson. Also surviving are a host of great and great-great uncles, great and great-great aunts, and cousins.
