Lauriene (Lindsey) Daniels was born on July 13, 1933, in Iron City, Georgia, to the late Herbert Lindsey and Gertrude (Jackson) Lindsey. She was the oldest of five siblings; three of whom–Reverend Edward Lindsey, Ollie Jean White, and Dorothy Bolden–preceded her in death.
From her earliest years, Lauriene was a radiant light in the lives of those around her. She gave her life to CHRIST at a young age, beginning a lifelong journey of faith, service, and purpose.
Lauriene began her elementary education in the Seminole County School System. She later transferred to the Decatur County School System, where she graduated from Hutto High School in Bainbridge, Georgia, on May 26, 1951. Her academic excellence and unshakable commitment to learning led her to attend the prestigious Savannah State College, where she earned her degree in Early Childhood Education on August 16, 1956.
With a heart devoted to the growth of others, Lauriene began her professional journey at the Seminole County Training School in Donalsonville, Georgia. Over the course of 39 years, she served in the Seminole County School System as a respected and influential educator—shaping minds and molding individuals with grace, patience, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every child.
On December 25, 1963, Lauriene united in Holy Matrimony with Arthur F. Daniels, her beloved husband, who preceded her in death on June 13, 2013. To this union, one child, Derrick Daniels, was born. Together, they shared a legacy of love, strength, and family that continues to live on.
Lauriene was more than a teacher—she was a pillar of her community, a mentor, a leader, and a woman of tremendous faith. A devoted member of New Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Iron City, Georgia, she served on several committees, always willing to lead and uplift with humility and purpose.
She gave generously of her time and talents through her active involvement in civic organizations, including The Order of the Eastern Star, the Daughters of Isis, the Heroines of Jericho, the Golden Circle, and the Retired Teachers Association.
As the revered matriarch of the Lindsey Family, Lauriene was the embodiment of wisdom, strength, and nurturing love. Her presence commanded both respect and warmth. She had a gift for making others feel valued. She could calm storms with a soft word and inspire greatness with a knowing glance. Her passion for flowers mirrored the beauty she cultivated in her relationships—vibrant, tender, and deeply rooted.
She is survived by her loving son, Derrick Daniels of Jakin, Georgia; her treasured granddaughter, Desiree Lauriene Daniels of Houston, Texas; two devoted sisters, Barbara McClean of Hillside, New Jersey, and Alice Green of Americus, Georgia; three sisters-in-law: Margaret Lindsey, Marjorie Williams, and Marion Walker; and two brothers-in-law, Midge Bolden and Reverend Sidney Holston. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and a multitude of extended family and cherished friends.
To know Lauriene was to love her—to be embraced by her gentleness, inspired by her wisdom, and encouraged by her unwavering faith. Though she now rests in eternal peace, her impact will echo through generations.
And so, like a rose in full bloom returning to the soil from which it came, Lauriene has returned to her CREATOR—gracefully, gloriously, and surrounded by the legacy of love she sowed.
We will miss her voice, her touch, her laughter, and her prayers...
But we will forever carry her in our hearts, blooming in the garden of our memories.
