Len Barnum Obituary

Len Russell Barnum was born on February 22, 1955, to th3 late Lonnie Barnum Sr. and Flora Bell Dotson Barnum. He was one of thirteen children.

He was born and raised in Dawson, Georgia, and attended the public schools of Terrell County, Georgia. He held many jobs in his lifetime, but the one he loved the most was truck driving. Len was a truck driver for 20 years, and he traveled to 48 out of 50 states. In between his time on the road, he loved to come home and listen to jazz, eat his wife’s good meals, and most of all, fish. He was a member of Saint Maryland Missionary Baptist Church, where he was an Usher up until he fell ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Barnum Sr. and Flora Bell Barnum; brothers: Lonnie Barnum Jr., Dwight Barnum, Willie Walton, Jasper Barnum, and L. W. Barnum; and sisters: Annie Johnson, Carrie Roberts, Lillie Campbell, and Pearl Taylor. He was also predeceased by two sons, Dwight Barnum and Antonio Oxford. They welcome him into Heaven with open arms.

He leaves behind an adoring and devoted wife of 22 years, Marcella Barnum; loving sons, a daughter, and daughters-in-law: Damiano (Sha’Ronda) Byrd, Darrius (Tamika) Barnum, De’Andre Barnum, Desmond (Haley) Mays, Renee (Antonio) Oxford, and Shantira Barnum; ten grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. He also leaves behind two brothers, two sisters, and a sister-in-law: Jum (Mae) Ra’Oof, Mattie (Robert) Cannon, Johnnie Barnum, Joyce Green, and Mary Barnum.

Len Barnum was part of a very large family full of siblings, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved and shared numerous laughs and smiles with. He will be missed dearly.
