“Who’s That Lady?” Lila was a spicy social delight. She could comfortably strike up a conversation with a stranger and throw in a joke or two, leaving an unforgettable, pleasurable impression. An enthusiastic gardener, Lila found peace and contentment in the earth’ natural rhythms. Her beautifully maintained home garden was a testament to her green thumb. Lila’s other joys included delving into the entertaining world of make-believe Soap Operas, being the first, and even perhaps the last one off a dance floor, savoring a well-brewed cup of tea, and making her famous mouthwatering banana pudding.
Lila’s legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to have known her. Her kindness, integrity, and devotion to her family will be forever cherished. As we celebrate Lila’s life, we carry with us her love for shopping and her aesthetic pleasure in wearing a good pair of flashy cowgirl boots, spiky platforms, or a classy pair of pumps to compliment any outfit with her hat or headgear.
Lila was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband, Deacon Jessie James Pitts, Sr., and son, DeWayne LaTodd Pitts, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her fond memory her children: Silisa, Ushinda, and Jessie (Tracy); grandchildren: Breeunka Boatwright (Walter), Allenka Pierce, Breeunna Duncan, Promis Pitts, Corey (Cjay) Harvey, Jr., Ayana Pitts, Jaynard Fuse and DeWayne LaTodd Pitts II; three great grandchildren: Nyla Boatwright, Castiel Pitts, and Legend Theodore; brother: Hampson Tinson; sisters-in-law: Geraldine Foulks and Florence Tinson; trusted right arm, Derek Holmes; nephew of the house, George Foster; favorite cousin, Aldene Jones; four godchildren: Marlene Etheredge, Maurice Johnson, Sr., Faith McCray and James (Jay Jay) Powell II; dear friends: Margaret Walker of Blakely, Georgia, Barbara Wright of Blakely, Georgia, Mable Wilson of West Palm Beach, Florida and Viola Sealy of West Palm Beach, Florida; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Rest in peace, Dear Nana/Ladybug, your luminous spirit continues to inspire all who had the honor of knowing you. Your light will continue to shine on in the lives of those you touched because you were a beacon of love full of warmth, generosity, and kindness.
