Linda (Baxter) McCoy

Linda Baxter McCoy was born in Miller County, Georgia on August 20, 1951, to Mildred Baxter and Ulyssees Baxter.

She accepted CHRIST at an early age and began her pilgrimage to do the work of THE LORD. She was a member of the Saint Mary Missionary Baptist Church of Damascus, Georgia. Under the leadership of Pastor Radar Fair, she was the Church Secretary and member of the Senior Choir and Program Committee. Linda worked diligently through her church and with her church until her departure.

Linda, also known as "Lois", was educated at Bethel High School in Colquitt, Georgia, and received her high school diploma from Broward County Schools in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After retiring from Shaw Industries, Lois continued her education and received a B. S. Degree in Human Resources from the University of Phoenix. She was employed with the Early County School System and Village Cleaners of Blakely, Georgia until her health was compromised.

Linda completed her life’s journey at her home in Blakely on April 22, 2020. She was with those who were dear to her heart: her son, her grandchildren and her brothers. She is now resting in Heaven with THE LORD and her mother.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving son, Ricky Jerome Backey of Blakely, GA; devoted companion/grandfather to her grandchildren, Alex McCoy of Blakely; stepfather, James Sutton of Blakely; eleven grandchildren: Terrica Backey, Jamarcus Backey, Demonte Backey, Jawuan Ofton, Jaden Dunwoody, Aliyah Backey, Mahogany Foster, My’Kia Wright, Myla Wright, Kenton Norris, and Kendra Mells; three brothers: Frank Baxter, Ulysee Baxter (Elizabeth), both of Blakely, and Willie Baxter of St. Petersburg, FL; sister, Eula Mae Baxter of St. Petersburg, FL; special nephew, Rodney Baxter of Blakely; and her cousin/exercise buddy, Elizabeth Walker of Blakely.

She also leaves to cherish her memories her aunt, Claudine Freeman; dedicated family in Gordon, AL; and committed Freeman/Price Family in Blakely.
