Liza Mae Hall-Ofton was born in Blakely, Georgia, on October 4, 1920, to Liza Mae Hall and Authur Hall. At an early age, she joined Macedonia Baptist Church. Later, she joined The Restored House under the leadership of Pastor Maria Atkins.
Liza Mae was married to Johnny C. Ofton, who preceded her in death. She worked as a Janitor for Early County School System and as a Housekeeper for years until her health failed her.
She departed her earthly life on Friday, April 17, 2020, at Early Memorial Nursing Home in Blakely, Georgia. She was preceded in death by seven children: Minnie L. Ofton-Shorter, Nelma Ruth Ofton, Mary Alice Ward, Emma Jean Ofton, Johnny Mike Ofton, Willie Maurice Ofton, and Jerry Ofton; four siblings; grands; and great grands.
She leaves to cherish her life six children–four daughters Betty R. Ofton, Marie Ofton-Bankston (Robert), Anna J. Ofton and Linda Ofton; and two sons Herman Ofton and James Ofton–all of Blakely, GA; thirty-two grands; fifty-six great grands; several great-great grands; special friends Dr. Clifford Lovett, Dr. Ester Lovett and Alice Wiley; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
