Mary Frances Pitts Snipes was the eldest of Roscell and Rosa Lee Johnson’s seven children. She was born in Early County, Georgia, and attended the local schools and school in Alabama.
She accepted the Three Angels’ Messages and joined Mount Calvary Seventh-day Adventist Church in Tampa, Florida. There she met and married James Robert Snipes. The family moved to Chicago, Illinois, and became members of the Independence Boulevard SDA Church. She returned to Georgia in 1971 and united with Calvary SDA Church in Cedar Springs. Sister Snipes loved the truth of the church and worked faithfully with the Deaconesses and the Community Service Organization. She also was a faithful witness for JESUS CHRIST.
Mrs. Snipes departed this life on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, and is now sleeping awaiting the return of her LORD And SAVIOR. She was preceded in death by her husband James and her oldest brother Walter Lee.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children Evelyn, Glenn (Daphne), Irvin (Dianne), William and Ennis (Valerie). She is survived by her siblings J. C., Essie (John), Lemon Rene, Harry and Annie Ruth (Phillip).
She loved her seventeen grandchildren, her great grandchildren, her great-great grandchildren, and all her nieces, nephews and cousins. She embraced her other daughters Margaret and Marie; her adopted granddaughter Juliet; her sister-in-law Anna; her dear friends Evera, Essie, Opal, Lila and Kaye; her church families; and her numerous friends.
