Mattie Wade Blackmon, known to many as "Ma Matt", was the daughter of Eim Wade and Emma Adams Wade. She was born June 10, 1910, in Blakely, Georgia.
At an early age, she accepted CHRIST as her SAVIOR and became a member of Saint Maryland Missionary Baptist Church. As an adult, she continued her pursuit of CHRIST as pianist, servant and Mother of the Church until her health failed, and she was admitted to Lite Brite Nursing Home, where she passed on Wednesday, November 6, 2019.
"Ma Matt" was strong in her beliefs and loved church, children, music and singing. She was of one of GOD’S angels.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eim and Emma Wade; her four sisters: Josephine Bennett, Ann K. Graham, Emma K. Staff, and Carrie Mae Bennett; her four brothers: Otis Wade, Elijah Wade, Aaron Wade and Eura Wade; and two of her children, Mann Wade and Kimmie Bryant.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing one daughter, Dorothy Jean Hawkins (Edison); eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one goddaughter, Mattie Gray; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
