Mattie L Ingram

1MATTIE LOUISE INGRAM, 81, was born Mattie Igles in Blakely, Georgia on December 12,1935 to Elton and Vera Lee Igles. Mattie was the third oldest of eleven.

Mattie’s educational experience was shortened due to responsibilities around the house and rearing of her siblings. She was an avid seamstress who loved making quilts.

She had a genuine heart that loved her children and enjoyed every moment of laughing and playing with her grandchildren. More so, she adored her best friend, Jeanette Jones, and brother-in-law, Lewis Mike.

Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, three siblings (Elton Jr., Carrie, Johnny and Robert) and one son (Jimmy).

Mattie’s final call to Glory was received on Friday, February 3, 2017 at her daughter Angela’s home in Dothan, Alabama. Mattie was surrounded by family members at her bedside as she took her last breath.

Mattie is survived by ten children: Johnnie Pearl Sanders, Mattie Lou Sol, Milton Igles (Gail), Walter Ingram, Eddie Ingram (Dot), Calvin Ingram (Angela), John Ingram (Lisa), Teddy Ingram (Shakuntala), Angela Ingram, and Christina Ingram; and six siblings: Minnie Lee James, Betty Lou Nixon, Marie Wimberly (Fred), Ruby Igles, Tommie Igles, and Lucinda Miller (Isaah).

Mattie leaves a legacy of inspiration, encouragement, order and structure to all that knew her. Her walk in life was very simple...FAMILY! She believed “No family is perfect–we argue; we fight. At the end of the day, family is family; the love will always be there.”
