Mrs. Mildred Carr-Bankston was born in Early County (Blakely, Georgia) on October 10, 1926, to the late Carrie Cook Carr and Arron Carr. She married the late Lee L. Bankston at a very early age. To this union were born eight siblings: Johnny Lee, Annie Doris, Sammie Earl, Annie Lee, Eddie B., Carrie Mae, Charles Edward, and Robert Lee.
Mrs. Bankston was a member of Higher Dimension Inner-Faith Church in Albany,
Georgia under the leadership of her son, Reverend Eddie B. Bankston. In her younger years, she was a member of Arms of Faith and White Star Missionary Church.
She was a mother who cared very much for her family and worked very hard to support them. She welcomed people into her home with kindness and laughter.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a significant joy to her. She would play with them and have so much fun. Mrs. Bankston had her way with words; O yes, she would tell you like it is or tell you like it was! She was kind and funny; however, sometimes she would use words that were not commonly used; you know what I mean! Nonetheless, she never met a stranger, she was a people person and they loved her throughout the community. She was a magnificent homemaker and a dynamic cook. Her homemade biscuits would melt in your mouth.
Early Wednesday morning, January 19, 2022, Mrs. Bankston made her transition to Glory.
She was predeceased by her son Johnny Lee Bankston; sister, Rosa Lee Lucas; two brothers: James Carr and Edward Carr; two grandsons: Vincent Bankston, Robert Bankston, Jr., and a granddaughter: Yolanda Bankston Blocker.
