The Bible teaches us that life is but a journey, and on Sunday evening, December 8, 2024, Mother Minnie Turner Hutchins peacefully transitioned from Labor to Reward. She fulfilled her earthly purpose and was called Home to Rest in GOD’S Eternal Garden. If she could speak to us now, she would remind us, “Don’t mourn my passing; instead, rejoice and be glad.” GOD needed another angelic flower to grow in HIS Eternal Garden.
Born on November 2, 1926, in Fort Gaines, Georgia, to the late Mose and Elizabeth Turner, Minnie was a beacon of love and faith. She accepted CHRIST at an early age at Saint Luke Missionary Baptist Church. She later joined Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as the Mother of the Church.
After completing her education, she met and married the love of her life, Deacon Napoleon Hutchins. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter and devotion, raising a beautiful family of nine children.
Mother Hutchins was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband and two sons, John Hutchins and Larry Hutchins.
Her legacy of love and faith continues through her family–one daughter, Eloise H. Christian of Donalsonville, GA; six sons: Willie Hutchins (Betty) of Willingboro, NJ, Roy Hutchins (Cheryl) of Pine Bluff, AR, Donald Hutchins (Lisa) of Columbus, GA, Wayne Hutchins (Martha), Charles Hutchins, and Henry Hutchins (Cassandra), all of Blakely, GA; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Hutchins of Colquitt, GA. She also raised two grandsons as her own, Tavare Shamon Hutchins (Tene) of Dallas, TX, and Henry Hutchins Jr. (Leigh) of Blakely, GA. Mother Hutchins was a proud grandmother of fourteen grandchildren (two of whom preceded her in death) and a great grandmother of eighteen great grandchildren. Her family extends to countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whose lives were touched by her kindness and generosity.
Mother Hutchins leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and cherished memories that will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who knew her. As the scripture reminds us: “Then Johnathan said to David, Tomorrow is the new moon, and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty” (1 Samuel 20:18).
We celebrate her life and the many ways she blessed us. Though she is absent in body, her spirit remains with us, guiding and comforting us until we meet again. Rest well, Mother, in GOD’S Eternal Peace.
