On October 1, 1970, a “DIVA” was born in Newark, New Jersey. She later moved to Blakely, Georgia, and attended school in the Early County School System, graduating Early County High School in 1988. Following family roots, she earned the Degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Tuskegee University (Tuskegee, Alabama) in 1993. While at Tuskegee, she pledged Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Upon graduation, she began her nursing career in Baltimore, Maryland, at Johns Hopkins Hospital. This is where her twenty-seven year journey in nursing began, but far from where it ended. Ramona also offered her services in Georgia, Texas, California and Florida to name a few, providing excellent healthcare service to numerous patients. She worked as a Critical Care Nurse Manager, Cardiovascular Disease Medical Intensive Care Manager, etc. She loved her job and was loved at every stop along her journey. She often said, “Nurses are a gift from GOD”.
At an early age, Ramona joined Wesley Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Blakely. She served in many areas as a member of this church. She later joined New Life Church in Decatur, Georgia, where she also was an active member in many areas of the church. Ramona loved THE LORD with all her heart. She was a true believer in prayer and faith.
The legacy of her season is left to her loving family to cherish–a loving mother, Nancy Robinson Wright; father, Tommie Jive Wright/Grady Branch; brothers: Jarvin Wright, Sr., Doren Thomas, and Shedrick Branch; sisters: Catherine Adams and Dantell Thomas; aunts: Freddie Cody, Pauline Robinson, Catheryne Robinson, Deborah Robinson, Doris Robinson, Arlene Partin, Shirley Sessom, and Ruth Green; uncles: the Reverend Eddie Robinson, the Reverend Johnnie Robinson, the Reverend Kenneth Cody, and James Branch; a very special nephew: Jarvin Wright, Jr.; and a host of nieces, other nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Ramona’s love for her brother, grandparents, aunts and uncles who preceded her in death was immeasurable–namely her brother: Taveus Branch; grandparents: Thad and Freddie Robinson; aunts: Lurlene Robinson, Millie Smith, Irene Ealey, and Ruth Porter; and uncles: Robert Robinson, Jeff Robinson, Ellis Robinson, Willie B. Smith, and Charles Branch.
Ramona loved and cherished all of her family members and friends. She also had a deep love for all of her sorority sisters and frat brothers of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. She lived for the Homecoming at “SkeeGee”. She talked about going the next year before she even made it home from the current homecoming. Ramona always loved the finer things in life. If it was for Ramona, it had to be the best of the best. With that attitude, it showed with her generosity to all. As her earthly time is over, rest assured she is resting in Heaven.
