Finished My Course”: His Journey.
Ruford Kimbrough was born October 29, 1939, in Blakely, Georgia, to the late Sylvester and Bertha Kimbrough. Ruford was the fourth child of eight children. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Ruford accepted CHRIST at an early age at Mount Ebel Missionary Baptist Church. He was educated in and graduated from the Calhoun County School System. He loved sports and was an outstanding basketball player. Ruford was a person always on the go. He lived and worked in Detroit, Michigan from 1965-1981; afterwards, he returned to Arlington, Georgia,to live with his mother.
Ruford retired in 2005 and was very active until his health began to decline. He moved with his niece Shirley Harris. Ruford lived with her until his death. He fought a courageous health battle.
He leaves to cherish his memories one son, Alonzo Kimbrough (Shakeitha) of Prattville, AL; two grandchildren, Mackenzie Kimbrough and Marquavious Kimbrough; two sisters, Marie Williams of Detroit, MI, and Denise Reed of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Sylvester Kimbrough of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters-in-law, Wylene Kimbrough and Linda Kimbrough, both of Lake Wales, FL; one special favorite niece, Hazel White of Blakely, GA; one goddaughter, Jakeria Williams; two god-grandchildren, Josiah Williams and Ayden Williams; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
