Sharon Louise Watkins, on the afternoon of Dec. 8, 2022, passed away at her home in Blakely, Georgia while comforted by her husband Tim. She was 81 years old. Sharon was born on Nov. 23, 1941, in Huntington, Indiana, and was the daughter of the late Dean and Ruby (Hunt) Stouder.
Sharon was the second born of seven children. Sharon was an adventurous child and described herself as mischievous. She and her six siblings were all remarkably close growing up. They often played at Elmwood Park together. She reminisced about how much she loved her childhood and good upbringing.
Sharon loved to read and had a wonderful imagination, always yearning for adventure. Sharon became a mother and was a very industrious worker doing whatever jobs necessary to make ends meet for her family. In 1975, while working at HK Porter in Huntington, Sharon met and later married her husband Tim. They were inseparable and began a life working together. They traveled and landed in Mississippi where she began working in a shipyard wiring submarine for the Navy as Sharon was a petite woman and electronically inclined. Sharon said, "Most men couldn't crawl into the tight spaces she could reach and that got her the job."
Sharon was never afraid of change. She and her husband decided to purchase their own semi-truck and traveled the country moving families from coast to coast. Sharon always loved the water since childhood so naturally she settled in Florida and that is where she spent much of her life. Sharon and her husband had a successful construction company that helped facilitate the storage industry for over 20 years.
Sharon was a part of building hundreds of storages you may see while traveling throughout the USA. Sharon excelled at whatever she did, she spent several years in property management through retirement and eventually relocated to Blakely, Georgia. Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Norman Stouder and sister, Judy (Stouder) Johnson.
Sharon is survived by her husband Timothy Watkins, Blakely, Georgia. Tim was by her side for 47 years and remained so through her passing. Sisters and brothers also survive Sharon: Diana (Joe) Cipolone, Bob (Marie) Stouder, Jeannie (John) Webb, Mark (Carol) Stouder. Five children also survive Sharon: Terri Morris (Glen Gilmore), Michelle (Dave) Mauger, Tammy (Dave) Lalone, Todd Welches and Tyler Welches along with seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
