On September 28, 1941, Vera Mae McDowell was born to the late Beulah Mae Royal-Williams and Julius Williams.
She accepted CHRIST at an early age and Saint James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church as her church home.
Mrs. McDowell was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Ulysses McDowell. To this union were born three sons: Mr. Melton McDowell of Blakely, GA, Mr. Robert McDowell (Janice) of Colquitt, GA, and Mr. Wayne McDowell (La’Raunce) of Daytona, FL.
She was the second of six children. All of her siblings–R. L. Williams, Junior Lee Williams, Oscar Williams, Lillie Bell Williams and Tommy Williams–preceded her in death.
In addition to her sons, Ms. McDowell leaves to mourn six loving grandchildren: Zaritha Pugh (Bobby), Robert McDowell, Jr., Demetria Wimberly all of Blakely, GA, Caitlyn Bush of Colquitt, GA, Lathyn McDowell and Tahiry McDowell both of Daytona, FL; two great grandchildren: Zaylin Pugh and Zayla Pugh, both of Blakely, GA; her darling goddaughters: Margaret Jackson, Betty Roberts, Angela Salter-Holmes, Gloria Davis, Shanice Grimsley-Smart and Candice Bell; her beloved god-granddaughter, Ty’Kerria Wimberly; two devoted dear sisters-in-Christ of many years, Aldenia Greene and Euzera Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
