Willie Butler Jr.

On January 1, 2018, at Miller County Hospital in Colquitt, Georgia, GOD called Willie Butler Jr. Home. He was born November 15, 1954, in Tallahassee, Florida, to the late Willie Butler Sr. and Jessie King Butler.  Three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.

"Shug", as he was affectionately known to his family, joined Salem Freewill Baptist Church at an early age. He attended the Early County School System in Blakely, Georgia. He was employed with Georgia Pacific for twenty-two years and with Shaw Industries for three years until he retired.

Willie embraced life to the fullest–always joking, laughing and making people smile. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.

Willie "Shug" Butler Jr. leaves to mourn a loving and devoted wife of forty-three years, Patricia Echols Butler of Damascus, GA; two sons, Cornelius Butler (Lakeevra) of Damascus and Billy Joe Butler (Jacqueline) of Conyers, GA; one daughter, Shabreka Butler of Damascus; seven grandchildren; mother, Jessie King Butler of Damascus; two brothers, Ronnie Jerome Butler of Philadelphia, PA and Ricky Butler (Rose) of Damascus, GA; three sisters: Arneatha Hudson, Annie Laura Holmes, and Irether Butler, all of Damascus; two uncles, Willie King of Tallahassee, FL and Eddie "Mike" Warren of Moultrie, GA; one aunt, Katherine Butler of Tallahassee; a mother-in-law, Narvie Echols of Blakely, GA; six sisters-in-law: Bertha Lewis (Sinclair) of Blakely, Marion Williams (Author) of Damascus, Mary Ann Pryor (Alfred) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Betty Jones (Melvin), Gwendolyn Butler, both of Atlanta, GA, and Romidell Echols of Blakely; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Charlie Echols, and brother-in-law, Charlie Echols.
