Willie Cea Russell
June 18, 1954 ~ October 24, 2023 (age 69) 69 Years Old
Willie Cea Russell, known affectionately as Willie to all who knew him, passed away peacefully from natural causes on October 24, 2023. Born on June 18, 1954, in Blakely, Georgia, Willie's life was marked by a spirit of adventure, a knack for fixing things, and a generous heart that touched numerous lives.
Willie was the beloved son of Willie C and Rheba Russell, both of whom preceded him in death. He was one of a large and loving family, which included four brothers, Willie Lee, C.B., Willie Jr., and Willie Floyd, and two sisters, Willie Ruth and Earlene Pritchard.
Willie is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Young, and his four children, LaVar Russell of Fort Pierce, Florida, Gary Russell of Jupiter, Florida, and Danielle and Stacey of Blakely, Georgia. He was a cherished grandfather to Anthony, Elijah, Bella, and Liam, all of Fort Pierce, Florida.
Willie's surviving siblings include his brothers, Roy Russell (Josephine) and R. C. Russell, both of Blakely, Georgia. He leaves behind three sisters-in-law: Rebecca Lamar of Jupiter, Florida, Cindy Gordon of Orlando, Florida, and Elaine Davidson of North Carolina. Willie's extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives, as well as a large circle of friends, will miss him deeply.
For many years, Willie was a reliable and skilled driver for two trucking companies, Empire and J & J Trucking. His work allowed him to indulge his love for travel and explore new places, a passion that continued into his retirement. His colleagues remember him as a dedicated worker who always had a story to share from his journeys on the road.
Outside of work, Willie was known for his adventurous spirit and his handy nature. He loved to tinker and fix things, a skill that often came in handy for his family and friends. Willie was also incredibly generous, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer support to those in need. His kindness and generosity of spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.
In the words of Mark Twain, "The secret of getting ahead is getting started." Willie lived this quote, never shying away from a new adventure or challenge. His zest for life was infectious, inspiring those around him to seize opportunities and live life to the fullest.
We mourn the loss of Willie, but we also celebrate a life well-lived. His legacy of love, adventure, and generosity will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Willie's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the joy of exploration. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. We are grateful for the time we had with Willie and for the many ways he enriched our lives. His memory will always be a blessing.
