Willie "Bro" Thomas Obituary

WILLIE JAMES THOMAS, affectionately known as “BRO”, departed this earthly life on Sunday, November 30, 2025, in Blakely, Georgia.

Born January 6, 1957, in Blakely, Georgia, he was the son of Lillie P.Thomas and Willie C. Smith.

Willie’s favorite sayings were “I Ain’t Lying” and “Yall Have a Blessed One”. 2 Corinthians 5:8 teaches “To be absent from the body is to be present with THE LORD”; and though his absence has left a void that will be felt sorely by his loved ones, there is consolation in knowing he is with THE LORD.

“Bro” was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Willie Thomas Jr. and Mary Louise Thomas.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children Travia Shaw, Shaquille Powell, Cedric Powell Sr. (Synephria) and Latavius Powell Sr. (Tanika); his grandchildren Nahlia Shaw, Cedric Powell, Jr., Kaleb Johnson, Aveion Daniels, Ahkeim Daniels, Latavius Powell, Jr., Brennan Powell and Tristan Powell; his great grandchildren Kyree Johnson and Kayne Powell; his siblings Jerome “Choot” Thomas, David Thomas (Patricia), Robert Thomas (Phyllis), Eddie Roy Thomas (Dorothy Lewis), Mary Battle, Eddie Smith (Kassandra), Lewis Dawson, L. C. Smith, Willie C. Smith, Pinike Smith and Mary Ann Hart; and a host of other relatives and friends.

“For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21
